The veteran South Africa opener and former skipper, Dean Elgar came up with a stunning knock against India in the ongoing first Test of the two-match series; both teams are playing this match at the SuperSport Park in Centurion, which started on Tuesday, December 26. South Africa are currently looking in a comfortable position against the visitors in the first innings.

Coming back to Dean Elgar, he is currently batting unbeaten at the individual score of 138 runs, hitting 23 fours with the bat. He also stitched a brilliant partnership of 93 runs for the second wicket with the young number 3 batter Tony de Zorzi. Later, he also added an amazing partnership of 131 runs for the fourth wicket with the young debutant David Bedingham.

His knock has helped South Africa to take a lead of 252 runs for the loss of five wickets in 63 overs, having centurion Dean Elgar and pace-bowling all-rounder Marco Jansen there in the middle.

Dean Elgar's century destabilizes India after a first-innings comeback

Notably, it is also the last Test series of Dean Elgar’s career as he already announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket following the end of the ongoing two-match Test series against India.

Talking about other actions of the match, star pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and another star pacer Mohammed Siraj have scalped 2 wickets each so far for India in the first innings of South Africa. other than these two, India’s debutant pacer Prasidh Krishna has also scalped one wicket for India.

Earlier on day 2 of the ongoing Centurion Test, India finished their first innings at the score of 245 runs courtesy of a remarkable century scored by the wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul. He scored 101 runs, hitting 14 fours and 4 sixes with the bat. Other than him, former skipper Virat Kohli and star middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer also contributed with the knocks of 38 and 31 runs, respectively.
