The Ranji Trophy continues to hold its position as India's foremost First-Class cricket competition, offering aspiring cricketers a platform to exhibit their skills and vie for a place in the senior national team. Nevertheless, former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary has expressed dissatisfaction with the organization of the Ranji Trophy, citing numerous challenges with the prestigious event.

The former India player Tiwary took to social media in a passionate outburst, calling for the tournament to be discontinued starting from the next season. However, the Bengal stalwart did not specify the exact reasons for his suggestion on social media. Throughout his 19-year tenure in the Ranji Trophy, Tiwary guided Bengal to two finals in the last three seasons, albeit without clinching a title since their inaugural triumph in the 1989/90 season. Additionally, Tiwary represented India in 15 international matches from 2008 to 2015, including an ODI century.

"Ranji trophy should be scrapped from the calendar from the next season onwards. So many things going wrong in the tournament. So many things need to be looked into in order to save this prestigious tournament which has a rich history. It's losing its charm and importance. Absolutely frustrated," Tiwary wrote on Twitter.

In addition to it, Tiwary took to Facebook Live to address specific concerns with the Ranji Trophy. In the live session, he announced his decision to conclude his Ranji Trophy career at the end of the current season. The Bengal cricketer initially criticized the inadequate dressing room facilities at the St Xavier's College Ground in Thumba, Thiruvananthapuram, where Bengal competed against Kerala in an Elite Group B match.

"We are playing Kerala in a ground, not a stadium despite there being one built years ago, we are being asked to play in a ground on the outskirts of the State. The dressing rooms are such that you cannot even strategise properly since our dressing room and the opposite dressing room are so close to each other that you can hear what the others are saying. There is no privacy. I hope that this is looked into in the future," Manoj Tiwary said.
