The Indian team had an intense training session in the middle ahead of the second Test against South Africa at Newlands in Cape Town. An observer was present at the stadium who recorded the training session of the Indian team ahead of the second Test, Rohan Deshmukh was present at the venue from the side of the broadcasters of the series taking place in SA.

Rohan claimed that the Indian batters like Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill had an intense practice session. He claimed that the two batters batted for more than 30 minutes each at the centre wicket and for another 40 minutes in the nets. Deshmukh noted that Kohli and Gill batted an over each against the Indian bowlers of different skill sets on tandem.

He observed that the two batters faced the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammad Siraj in the centre wicket. It was revealed that the bowlers were asked to bowl in a certain length which was in the range of 6 to 8 meters, almost like a shoebox. Deshmukh had earlier claimed that the practice session of the players started early in the morning at 9:30 AM.

A focused approach from India!

Rohan noted that all the pacers operated in the shoebox and the batters had a testing period in the middle against the bowling attack of India. He added that Jasprit Bumrah and Siraj bowled for more than 30 minutes and the batters faced Ashwin after it. Deshmukh felt that even when a spinner like Ashwin bowled, the ball landed exactly on one end of the markers, which was exactly the shoebox to create the lengths.

"Approximately 6-8m length was used. All pace bowlers were asked to bowl at that length. Bumrah, and Mohammad Siraj bowled for half an hour. All the deliveries were bowled with that length. Even when Ashwin bowled, his delivery dropped at one end of the markers. It looks like a focussed approach," concluded Rohan who noted down the practice session of the Indian team at Cape Town.
