Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan is having a dream run in Indian domestic cricket. The young batter from Mumbai boasts of a dreamy average of 80.47 in 36 first-class matches which is the second highest in first-class history second only to the legendary Don Bradman who averaged 95.14 in 234 first-class games.

Sarfaraz amassed 928 runs in the 2019-20 season of the Ranji Trophy at a staggering average of 154.66 and was the fifth-highest run-getter in that season in the last domestic season also he piled on 982 runs at an astonishing average of 122.75 and led Mumbai to the Ranji Trophy with his batting prowess.

But despite stacking piles of runs in the domestic tournaments, Sarfaraz’s non-selection in the Indian test team is an enigma for most cricket fans. He is currently in South Africa as a part of the India A side touring South Africa along the national side and is there to play a two-test series with South Africa starting from 26th December.

The right-handed batter hasn’t pulled back yet and is it still churning out runs with his bat? After scoring 69 runs with his bat against the South Africa A team in a side game, Sarfaraz has again hit a 61-ball century against India while playing for India A in a practice game.

With this brisk century against the main Indian side, Sarfaraz Khan has again given a statement to the selectors that he is ready for the big stage and it is high time that he should be given a chance.

Why is Sarfaraz Khan being neglected despite such a dream run?

According to some reports, Sarfaraz Khan’s fitness and his off-field reasons are the main reasons for his non-inclusion in the national text side. Selectors are of the view that his fitness is not up to the standards of international cricket and he has to work more on his fitness.

Some reports also suggest that selectors are not happy with his off-field behavioural issues and that he won’t be selected until he rectifies those issues also he is below in the pecking order than Suryakumar Yadav and Ruturaj Gaikwad
