Star All-Rounder from Australia is suffering from incurable kidney disease. The unfortunate news about the same was known after he informed about it in an interview recently. Cameron Green appeared in an interview with 7cricket recently, where he spoke about the same. The news has gone viral on social media and the fans are feeling sad about the Australian youngster who has a lot of cricket ahead of him.
"Kidneys can’t get better. It’s irreversible. So any way you can find to slow the progression, you basically try and do," said Green. He explained that his kidneys can only work 60% of the time, which is unfortunate. Green had a terrific performance in the domestic circuit for 3 or 4 seasons, which saw him getting his maiden cap for Australia in 2020. Green has been impressive as a player since then.
At a very young age, Green has achieved a lot. For Australia, Green has been useful in their recent campaigns. In the WTC cycle 2021-2023, Green was useful in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023, Ashes 2021/22, and other series. In the WTC final 2023 earlier this year, Green showed an incredible level of fitness and helped his team to win with his fielding efforts.
There were life-expectancy issues that he might not expect to live past 12 years of age - Gary Green
Gary Green, the father of Cameron Green, was also in the interview. He shared that the doctors explained to him that a life expectancy of 12 years was not guaranteed as well. "At the time it was uncharted territory as such; the prognosis wasn’t great. There were life-expectancy issues that he might not expect to live past 12 years of age," said Gary.
Green was recently traded from Mumbai Indians to RCB. The star-rounder will now play the IPL for RCB, where he will play alongside some of the best cricketers in the world at the moment like Virat Kohli, Faf Du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, Reece Topley, Mohammad Siraj, and others. It would be a great learning curve for the youngster, where he would likely be tried as a finisher.
