In the second Test between Australia and West Indies saw an interesting incident when COVID-19-positive Cameron Green made his way out in the middle. Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood playfully gestured for COVID-infected Cameron Green to stay away from the team celebrations following the dismissal of West Indies' Kraigg Brathwaite on Day 1 of the second Test at the Gabba in Brisbane on Thursday, January 25.

After choosing to bat first, West Indies faced a tight spell from the Australian bowlers with the new ball. The West Indies skipper Kraig Brathwaite continued his struggles in the series and fell victim to Hazlewood for the second time in a row. The opening batter endured a shaky innings, marked by a couple of review calls. Eventually, Brathwaite had to depart after edging one to wicketkeeper Alex Carey off Hazlewood, managing only four runs.

The Australian team gathered for the customary celebration after the dismissal, with Green joining in from his regular position at the gully. However, due to Green being currently infected with COVID-19, he is obligated to adhere to social distancing protocols on and off the field. Despite maintaining a safe distance and gesturing an 'air fist bump' without physical contact, Hazlewood jokingly motioned for his teammate to stay away while participating in the celebration with the rest of the team.

The onset of infections within the Australian team initiated with Travis Head testing positive after the first Test in Adelaide. Although now, the left-handed batter has returned with a negative test, both Cameron Green and head coach Andrew McDonald are still in the process of fully recovering from the virus.

Despite being deemed fit to play, Green had to adhere to the necessary guidelines, including maintaining social distancing from his teammates. This distancing was evident during the National Anthem and continued on the field, with Green standing a few feet away from the rest of the team. In the first Test in Adelaide, where he assumed the role of No. 4, Green had a challenging outing, scoring 14 runs off 27 deliveries after Steve Smith's slot was vacated due to the star batter's promotion in the order.
