Former India head coach and one of the brilliant all-rounders of his era in the 1980s, Ravi Shastri received the Indian Cricket Board’s prestigious Col CK Naidu Lifetime Achievement award for his contributions to Indian cricket. Shastri served the Indian Cricket Team from 1981 to 1992 for 11 years.
During this period, he played 80 Tests and 150 ODIs for India in this period of 12 years. He was also a part of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning team under the captaincy of the former legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev.
Meanwhile, Ravi Shastri was also asked by the stage host of the award ceremony and the veteran commentator Harsha Bhogle about the most cherished moment of his career. The former stalwart came up with an elaborate answer to this question from Harsha Bhogle.
Shastri reflected his favourite moment in Indian cricket from his playing days, commentary days, and the days of coaching as well.
“It is a special evening for me. I think picking one would be difficult. But I will just go very quickly. You showed one that the 1985 final vs Pakistan was special in Melbourne. 1983 when India won the World Cup. But in commentary, 2007 when they won the T20 World Cup and 2011 when MS hit that ball for six. Two back-to-back wins in Australia. But the icing on the cake was the last day at the Gabba when Rishabh Pant took us past the finishing line,” said Ravi Shastri after receiving the Col CK Naidu Achievement Award from the Indian Cricket Board.
The video of this emotional moment for Ravi Shastri is also making rounds on social media as soon as it was shared by the Indian Cricket Board on their official X-handle (formerly Twitter).
