The veteran Indian commentator and cricket analyst Harsha Bhogle came full praise for the former Indian skipper and the modern-day batting great, Virat Kohli. Harsha Bhogle was completely in awe of the 35-year-old for his sensational performances throughout the entire calendar year of 2023, be it any format of the game.

Notably, Kohli was the second-highest run-scorer in the ODIs in the calendar year of 2023, scoring 1377 runs in 24 innings of the 27 matches, he played for India. The batting stalwart scored these runs with a sensational average of 72.47, hitting 6 centuries and half-centuries.

He also achieved a unique milestone by scoring his 50th ODI century, surpassing former legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar's world record of 49 ODI centuries. Kohli achieved this feat in the first semi-final of the ODI World Cup 2023 against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

“Overjoyed too. After a couple of indifferent years, Virat Kohli came storming back. He had a fabulous World Cup, he averaged 50 in Test match cricket. But his enthusiasm for the game, his energy for the game,” said Harsha Bhogle in a video which is now making rounds on social media as soon as a Virat Kohli fan club shared it over X (formerly Twitter).

“I once said that if you use Virat Kohli's energy to light up a city, you will never have power cuts and he is still playing with the same intensity and same fitness. It is critical as he gets older and he has started to score runs. I loved watching Virat Kohli in 2023,” he added later.

Virat Kohli is currently with Team India in the ongoing two-match Test series against South Africa. He attracted the eyeballs with his well-fought knock in the second innings of the first Test at the SuperSport Park against the hosts South Africa.
