Team India got off to a positive start in their post-World Cup journey by defeating six-time ODI World Cup champions Australia in a five-match T20I series. With a thrilling 6-run victory in the final match, the Men in Blue clinched the series comprehensively 4-1 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.

After being invited to bat first, on a relatively different Chinnaswamy surface, India managed to post a competitive score of 160. Yashasvi Jaiswal provided a strong start as usual, but after his dismissal in the fourth over, India started losing a flurry of wickets. Jitesh Sharma (24 off 16) and Axar Patel (31 off 21) played some effective cameos, while Shreyas Iyer top-scored with 53 off 37.

In reply, Australia got off to a flying start despite losing Josh Philippe early on. Ben McDermott and Travis Head attacked the Indian bowlers mercilessly. However, after losing McDermott and Tim David Australia slowly started losing the game and eventually, they were restricted to 154/8. Pacer Mukesh Kumar (3/32), spinners Ravi Bishnoi (2/29) and Axar (1/14) also impressed. With 10 runs needed in the final 6 balls, Arshdeep Singh delivered a brilliant over to seal the game.
