The 55th game of the Indian T20 league 2022 saw Chennai beat Delhi by 91 runs. This was their fourth win of this edition. It was a comprehensive victory for the defending champions as almost all their players played well.

However, Devon Conway was superb in particular. The opener scored a fabulous 87 from just 49 balls. While his knock came at a strike rate of 177.55, it consisted of seven fours and five sixes respectively. This propelled the yellow army to score 208 in the first innings. After which, they bundled the Delhi-based franchise for just 117.

Conway went on to win the player of the match award as well. During the post-match presentation, he credited MS Dhoni for his advice. The Kiwi batter revealed that the Chennai skipper had asked him to look to play the straight shots, as he got out trying to play a sweep during the previous game. Conway also said that he has to be true to himself.

"I have to be true to myself, authentic to myself. I look to play cricket shots and just assess where to put my foot down. I have to give credit to MS, because I got out trying to play the sweep in the last game, and he told me to look to play straight," said Devon Conway.

It is to be noted that this was the 30-year-old's third half-century of this edition. In the meanwhile, he has gone on to form a formidable partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad at the top of the order. Thus, he had heaps of praises for the opener. While appreciating Gaikwad, he also stated that the 25-year-old makes his work easier. Further on, he drew light on his thought process.

"The thought process was just about keeping it simple. It was just about communicating with Ruturaj. With Hussey, I just discussed about how the surface would be and who the bowlers would be to target. I am just happy to build that partnership up with Rutu, and the way he's playing, he makes my job easier," he added.
