Star opener David Warner and last match’s concussion substitute Marnus Labuschagne smashed brilliant centuries in the ongoing second ODI of the five-match series against South Africa. Warner played a crucial knock of 106 runs, 12 fours and three sixes. On the other hand, Marnus Labuschagne scored 124 runs off just 99 balls, including 19 fours and a six with the bat.
On the back of these two centuries, alongside 64 and 50 runs contributed by Travis Head and Josh Inglis, respectively, Australia posted a big total of 392 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Tabraiz Shamsi scalped four wickets at the cost of 61 runs in his quota of 10 overs for South Africa.
Other than him, Kagiso Rabada also claimed 2 wickets, alongside one wicket each picked by Marco Jansen and Andile Phehlukwayo.
While chasing the target, South Africa has also gotten a good start as they have scored 84 runs for the loss of one wicket in 9.4 overs. Quinton de Kock just fell prey to Nathan Ellis on the individual score of 45 runs in a caught and bowled. Skipper Temba Bavuma is still there in the middle on the individual score of 37 runs. Rassie Van der Dussen has just joined Bavuma and got off the mark.
Currently, the Aussies are leading the five-match ODI series by 1-0 after a 3-wicket win in the first ODI against the hosts, South Africa. Following the conclusion of this ongoing ODI assignment against South Africa, Australia will tour India for the three-match ODI series against India before heading to the ODI World Cup 2023, in India next month.
Australia will start their run in the ODI World Cup 2023 with their campaign opener against the hosts, India. The blistering batting form of David Warner and the other Australian batters is also a good sign for Australia ahead of the marquee international tournament in India.
