Manchester Originals beat Northern Superchargers by 23 runs in the 21st match of The Hundred 2022 to take home two points on Sunday. The game played at Headingley at Leeds saw exceptional hitting by both teams, but the Originals emerged victorious in the end.
Asked to bat first, the Originals had a great start with Philip Salt and Laurie Evans not wasting any time to get runs under the belt.
The two looked in great shape to put their team in a good position. While the former completed his half-century in the game, Evans (45 runs in 19 balls) was the first one to depart. The openers put on a 102-run partnership in just 42 balls. Salt (55 runs in 25 balls) was quick to depart, but Tristan Stubbs continued from where he left off. Stubbs (46) contributed significantly to his team’s total.
The Men In Black managed to score 208/5, which is also the highest team score in the history of the tournament. In pursuit of the target, the Superchargers did not have the best of starts as they lost their skipper early on. Faf du Pless (six) continued his poor form and was dismissed on the 13th ball of the second innings. However, Adam Lyth took control of the game and got a few runs under his belt. He hit quick 46 runs in 24 balls to give his team a head start.
The Purple Brigade continued to lose wickets while attempting to score runs at a quick pace. Adam Hose and David Wiese tried their best to take their team across the line but fell short in the end. Hose (59) had a half-century in the game, while Wiese contributed 25 runs.
The two were unable to get their team over the finish line, as the team was limited to a score of 185/7.
For the bowling team, Paul Walter produced a match-winning spell of 27/3 in his 20 balls to win the match. Joshua Little took two wickets in the game, while Andre Russell and Tom Hartley took one each.

In @thehundred , I support the team whose snack I prefer most at the time. At this moment it’s @McCoys which is a bonus because @josbuttler is my favourite player.
But WOW! @Russell12A just went beserk.
Go on The McCoys!!!#DreRuss #TheHundred2022 #ManchesterOriginals
