In a decisive clash at the Gachibowli Stadium, Punjab FC emerged victorious, defeating Hyderabad FC by 2-0 in the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL) 2023–24 season. This marked Punjab FC's third win in four games since the resumption of the season, propelling them to the 10th spot in the league table.

Once again, the dynamic duo of Madih Talal and Luka Majcen played pivotal roles in securing the win for the league debutants. Their cohesive efforts, evident throughout the campaign, continued as they assisted each other's goals, contributing significantly to Punjab FC's success.

Despite Hyderabad FC actively participating in the game, with notable attempts to break the deadlock, particularly by Makan Chothe, they were unable to find the back of the net. Punjab FC goalkeeper Ravi Kumar, who made two crucial saves, showcased resilience in maintaining a clean sheet for his team during this away clash.

Punjab’s dynamic duo continued their dominance!

Punjab capitalised on their limited chances, with Luka Majcen making a breakthrough in the 45th minute. Positioned on the left side of the post, Majcen expertly headed in a short cross delivered by Madih Talal, who curled the ball in from the edge of the box.

The second half saw Punjab FC maintain positive momentum, exploring attacking options with the assistance of striker Wilmar Jordan Gil. In the 56th minute, a strong hold on the ball by Gil led to a sequence of events that culminated in Majcen setting up Talal outside the box on the left flank.

Opting for a long-range shot, Talal's attempt found the back of the net, racing past Hyderabad FC's goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani, securing Punjab FC's second and final goal of the night. Despite Hyderabad FC attempting 10 shots, with eight off-target and only two testing Ravi Kumar, they were unable to breach the opposition's defence.

With this win, Punjab FC celebrates a significant triumph that cements their upward trajectory in the ISL standings. On the other hand, the quest for Hyderabad FC's first win of the campaign continues. They have lost six games in a row now.
