Punjab weren't really at their best during the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022. Nevertheless, they finished their campaign on a high as they beat Hyderabad by five wickets in their last match of the league stage. It was a clinical performance from the Mayank Agarwal-led side, to say the least.
Liam Livingstone was once again superb as he scored an unbeaten 49 from just 22 balls. His knock consisted of two fours and five sixes. It is to be noted that the English all-rounder has had a season to remember. He was fantastic throughout the 2022 edition. Livingstone scored 437 runs in 14 games at an average of 36.42.
His strike rate in this season was 182.08. However, the fans and pundits were a little sscepticalabout him playing well for Punjab. This is because he didn't have a great time during the previous edition in 2021, while playing for Rajasthan. Thus, Livingstone said that it was nice to prove people wrong. After the completion of the game, he stated that there were a few comments about him after the previous season. He also said that he is still learning.
"Obviously nice to prove a few people wrong. I had a few comments after last year's Indian T20 League. I'm still learning, still developing and hopefully playing in all these different tournaments around the world, It's all about gaining that experience and trying to become a better player. I will go back to England now and try and use what I've learnt this tournament in the next tournament," said Liam Livingstone.
In the meanwhile, he also drew light on his bowling. The 28-year-old said that he loved bowling. Further on, he also stated that he was thankful to be backed by the squad.
"I love bowling, it is not the easiest thing, it does not come naturally to me, I would've probably liked to have bowl more through the tournament. Thankfully towards the end of the tournament, I got in Anil and Mayank's ear enough, that they let me bowl (smiles). The way we play the T20 game is to affect the game in all three facets and I feel I can do that and it's nice to be backed by the squad like I have been in this environment," he added.
