Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest football players in the history of the sport. Despite being past his prime, the Portuguese still hogs the limelight and is one of the fan favourites.

His time at the Spanish club Real Madrid is still considered to be one of the best footballer-club combos, similar to Lionel Messi at FC Barcelona. Ronaldo scored 450 goals in 438 games for the Spanish club. Ronaldo’s future, however, remains uncertain at the moment as the 37-year-old looks for a new club to play for.

At the start of the transfer window, the Manchester United player openly showed the desire to play for a Champions League club, a competition that Manchester United did not qualify for. The news soon spread like a wildfire with many big clubs like Chelsea, Bayern Munich and PSG swarming the player for his signature. None of the deals, however, went through as every club found Ronaldo’s deal to be very costly.

Real Madrid, Ronaldo’s old club was also reported to be in the running for his signature but a recent video of Florentino Perez, president of Real Madrid seems to point otherwise.

The video in question is taken by a fan who asks the club president to sign Ronaldo back. Perez in what is turning out to be a funny and rather surprising answer said, “who?” following up with, “Cristiano? Again? He’s 38 years old.”

The video is getting viral on social media as many join the conversation. Some say the 37-year-old still has it in him to play better than younger players, while some seem to argue that age has finally caught up with the legendary footballer.

Manchester United's despair continues

Despite many links, Ronaldo still plays for Manchester United who continue to fall from the top of English football. The appointment of new coach Erik Ten Hag was supposed to take them back to their glory days but a loss against Brighton in the first match of the Premier League points otherwise. Many match-going United supporters have threatened to boycott the upcoming game against Liverpool.
