Former England cricketer Geoffrey Boycott came up with a big statement while analysing the Indian skipper and star opener Rohit Sharma. Apart from that, Boycott also spoke about England’s chances of winning in the ongoing five-match Test series against the hosts. Rohit Sharma has been in the headlines of both social and mainstream media for the performance of Team India across different formats of the game.
Notably, India lost to England by 28 runs in the first Test of the five-match series on the fourth day of the Hyderabad Test; this defeat has also drawn a lot of criticism for Team India in the last few days.
"This India team are ripe for the taking" - Geoffrey Boycott
“Their captain Rohit Sharma is nearly 37 and past his best. He makes pretty cameos but has scored only two Test hundreds at home in four years,” wrote Geoffrey Boycott in his column for The Telegraph.
“This India team are ripe for the taking and England has a golden chance to be the first side to topple them on their patch for 12 years. India badly missed Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja has a hamstring injury and will not play the second Test,” he added later.
Now, India and England will take on each other in the upcoming second Test of the five-match Test series at the ACA-VDCA International Cricket Stadium in Vishakhapatnam, starting on February 2, 2024. England are leading the series by a margin of 1-0; star number three batter Ollie Pope smashed a match-defining century for England in the first Test, scoring 196 runs in the second innings to post a 231-run target for India to chase in the end.
India will be once again missing Virat Kohli in the second Test of the five-match series in Vishakhapatnam. Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Khan has also earned a maiden Test call-up in the squad of India.

Geoffrey Boycott's perspective underscores the significance of England's current opportunity to break India's 12-year home dominance. It will be interesting to see how the series unfolds and whether England can capitalize on this chance.

Man I am getting a feeling that a Rohit Masterclass is around the corner. Indian Genes whenever suppressed they emerge out more rapidly.
