'England recovered well' - Fans react as England reaches 302 runs in Day 1

In the fourth Test match between India and England at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi, England won the toss and elected to bat first. Ahead of the match, India handed Test debut to Akash Deep. For the fourth Test match, Jasprit Bumrah was rested. 

In the fourth over of the ongoing Test match, Akash Deep bowled Zak Crawley as he took his first wicket for India in the Test. But his joy at the first wicket was stopped as the umpired signed it as no-ball. Following the incident, Zak Crawley was given a second chance as he countered Mohammed Siraj by hitting three back-to-back fours and a huge six to end his over.

In the 10th over of the match, Akash finally got his maiden wicket for India in Tests as he dismissed Ben Duckett. Later, he also took the wicket of Ollie Pope. In the sixth over of his spell, he finally got Zak Crawley. In the first session, India restricted England to 57 runs and three wickets lost.

Joe Root dominates India on Day 1

Meanwhile, Johnny Bairstow became Ravichandran Ashwin's 100th wicket against England. Ashwin achieved this landmark in just 23 matches. England captain Ben Stokes could manage to score only three runs before getting out to Ravindra Jadeja.

Later, Joe Root and England wicket-keeper batter added 113 runs partnership for the sixth wicket stand.  Before getting out to Mohammed Siraj, Ben Foakes scored 47 runs. On the other hand, Former England captain Joe Root ended his poor form of runs as he went on to score his 1st century in this series. This century marks Joe Root's 13th away hundred and third hundred in India.

Joe Root and Ollie Robinson added 57 runs stand for the 8th wicket. At the end of Day 1, England scored 302 runs at the loss of 7 wickets. Joe Root is unbeaten on 106 and Ollie Robinson on 31 runs.
