The second day of the ongoing second Test of the five-match series between India and England completely belonged to the hosts as they bundled out the Three Lions on the same day. After resuming from the overnight score of 336 runs for the loss of 6 wickets, India managed to add 60 more runs and bundled out at the score of 396 runs in 112 overs.

Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal added 30 runs to his overnight score of 179 runs, completing an amazing double century; it was also his first double century in Test cricket. Following Jaiswal’s batting heroics and India’s first-innings total of 396 runs, England started batting in their first innings.

After getting a decent start, the visitors lost their first wicket at the score of 59 runs. However, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals courtesy of amazing bowling from the star Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Zak Crawley and Ben Stokes struggled somehow against the Indian bowling attack and played the knocks of 76 and 47 runs, respectively.

But it couldn’t be enough for England to make a comeback on the second day of the match and Jasprit Bumrah played an amazing role in bundling out Ben Stokes’ men just at the score of 253 runs. The 30-year-old claimed a sensational five-wicket haul on an almost ‘dull’ surface, scalping 6 wickets just at the cost of 45 runs in 15.5 overs, with bowling 5 maiden overs as well.

Besides Bumrah, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav also bagged 1 and 3 wickets respectively, for India. With the brilliant performance of the bowlers, India ended up taking a lead of 143 runs at the end of the first innings.

At the time of stumps on day 2, India had started batting in their second innings; the opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Rohit Sharma had added 28 runs on the board in just 5 overs without any loss.
