Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal impressed everyone with his brilliant performance with the bat on the first day of the ongoing first Test of the five-match series against England. Jaiswal smashed 76 runs off just 70 balls, hitting 9 fours and 3 sixes in the first innings to take India to 119 runs for the loss of just one wicket at the time of stumps on day 1.

Jaiswal also stitched an explosive opening partnership of 80 runs with skipper Rohit Sharma for the first wicket in just 12.2 overs. At the end of the day, the 22-year-old went unbeaten at 76 runs, alongside Shubman Gill, who had scored 14 runs off 43 balls, hitting a four.

England failed to get better of the Indian bowling attack

Earlier in the game on the first day of the Test series opener between India and England, the visitors’ skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, the English batters struggled a lot against the Indian bowling attack.

Indian bowlers, including veterans like Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah bundled out England at the score of 246 runs in the first innings. Ashwin and Jadeja scalped 3 wickets each, alongside 2 wickets each bagged by Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel.

However, England skipper Ben Stokes was the one for his side to play a well-fought knock of 70 runs, hitting 6 fours and 3 sixes with the bat.

Coming back to the sensational start for India from the young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, it is the second half-century for him in the Tests since he made his debut against West Indies. Jaiswal has been very impressive so far in the red-ball cricket owing to his aggressive intent with the bat in the format.

The fans also lauded Jaiswal for his amazing batting approach on the first day of the five-match Test series against England. They took to X (formerly Twitter) to come up with a lot of praising reactions for the youngster.
