The 3rd Test between India and England concluded on Sunday, with the Men in Blue clinching victory by an impressive margin of 434 runs. Despite winning the first Test, England faced consecutive defeats in the last two matches at the hands of the home side. Their pursuit of a target of 556 ended with them being dismissed for just 122 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal showcased sensational form, achieving his second double-century on Sunday, joining the ranks of Virat Kohli and Vinod Kambli as the third batter to achieve consecutive double-hundreds.

The 30 year old bowler has also emerged as a standout performer for India across all formats since his comeback from injury. Since the Ireland series, Bumrah has been a constant presence in the team without being rested. Considering the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) and the T20 World Cup 2024, there may be a possibility of Bumrah being rested to manage his workload effectively.

According to the report, the talismanic bowler will take a break of nearly 20 days before making his return for the series finale in Dharamsala, beginning on March 7. However, his comeback for the series finale hinges on the outcome of the Ranchi Test. Mukesh Kumar could potentially step in to replace the legendary India bowler.

Bumrah has been in prime form in this series

The legendary India bowler currently leads the series in wickets, having taken 17 at an average of 13.64, while bowling 80.5 overs across the three games. Similarly, Mohammed Siraj was rested during the second game of the series but returned for the third game, delivering a superb performance in the first innings. The home team has a favorable track record at the venue, winning their last match against South Africa in 2019, with a draw against Australia in 2017.

According to Cricbuzz, following their historic 434-run victory in Rajkot, the Indian team is scheduled to depart on Tuesday (February 20), with Bumrah likely to remain behind. His participation in the final match will be contingent upon the outcome of the third Test. If India secure a win against the English team in Ranchi, thereby clinching the series, Bumrah may continue to be rested.
