In the previous over, India missed out on a great chance to get the wicket of Ben Duckett. KS Bharat’s miscommunication cost India a wicket when he advised Rohit Sharma not to go for the DRS. Once the replays came on the screen it was seen that the ball was crashing into stumps which left Bumrah upset.
Jasprit Bumrah’s inspired spell leaves England reeling –
After the wicket of Ben Duckett, the home team looked to Jasprit Bumrah to give India yet another wicket. Joe Root came to the crease to put the home side under pressure but was up against an inspired Jasprit Bumrah.
The final ball of over number 21 saw Joe Root struck on the pads as India went up with a huge appeal. The umpire had no hesitation in putting his finger up as the former England skipper went for a DRS check.
Once the checks were done, it was seen that the decision stayed with the umpire’s call as Joe Root went back to the hut for 1. From 113/1 the visitors had lost their next two wickets for just four runs as the ball began to reverse swing.
After conceding a lead of 190 runs, England came out with a positive mindset. Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett went after the Indian bowlers to set the tone. 45- runs were added for the first wicket before Ashwin got the first wicket.
The pace of the innings didn’t seem to stop as the visitors put their foot on the pedal after lunch. Rohit Sharma looked bereft of ideas as the runs kept coming with ease and at an alarming rate. Thanks to Jasprit Bumrah, the complexion of the game changed once again.
