In a recent piece of news, Sunrisers Hyderabad are likely to appoint the World Champion Australian skipper as the captain of their franchise in the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024. The star pacer led the Australian side to win two marquee international tournaments last year, including World Test Championship 2023, in England and ODI World Cup 2023 in India.
A report in Cricbuzz has learned that the SRH management might be looking ahead to make some major changes in the leadership.
“The franchise is expected to announce Pat Cummins as the new skipper for the upcoming season. The Australia captain was acquired for Rs 20.5 crore in the last auction in Dubai and is highly regarded as an international captain. The change was expected for quite some time since Cummins is highly respected in international cricket. The fact that Cummins works with franchise head coach Vettori in the Australian national team also increases his chances of being appointed as the skipper,” read the report in Cricbuzz.

Sunrisers Hyderabad under the captaincy of Aiden Markram had a very dismal run of form in the last edition of the Indian Premier League 2023. They ended up in the last spot of the points table of IPL 2024, with only 4 wins in 14 matches, including 10 defeats, with only 8 points to their name.
The IPL 2016 champions will be looking ahead to end their trophy drought with a title win in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League under the captaincy of the new skipper, who might be more likely the current Australia skipper and star pacer, Pat Cummins.
