Rajasthan Royals' opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has had a breakout season with the bat in the ongoing IPL 2023. In the season, he has scored 625 averaging 48.07, and a strike rate of 163.61 including one hundred and five fifties. Even though his team is on the verge of getting knocked, although there is a slight chance that things might go their way, Jaiswal had done well.
During the game against Punjab Kings, the former India U19 player crossed the 600-run mark this season. With this, he became the first uncapped Indian player to cross 600 runs in an IPL season. Ruturaj Giakwad might have done it in 2021 if not for the 14th season getting postponed and him not making India debut before the UAE leg of the 2021 season.
The selectors must be closely monitoring Yashasvi Jaiswal: Ravi Shastri
Meanwhile, the left-hander, Jaiswal is getting praise from around the corners. Recently, former India cricketer, Robin Uthappa has said that the likes of Jaiswal and Shubman Gill will be one of the next big players in the Indian Cricket.
"Extremely special. Along with Shubman Gill, he (Jaiswal) is one the biggest things of the Indian cricket. Not just maturity, I think hunger. You can see it in his eyes, he wants it so badly and that is fantastic. Don't stop young man," Uthappa said on JioCinema.
On the other hand, former India head coach, Ravi Shastri believes that Jaiswal must be closely monitored by the selectors.
“The selectors must be closely monitoring Jaiswal and he will soon play for India. The best thing about him is the way he’s raised his graph. There is power in his game, there’s timing. He has very bright future prospects,” said Shastri to Star Sports.
It is likely that Jaiswal might get to play for India on the tour of the West Indies later this year. The series will also consist of T20I games and the team might be led by Hardik Pandya.

Hope he will be humble and success will not get to his head. Hope he is grateful to Ajinkya Rahane for showing a few things during the Ranji Trophy.
