The highly-awaited movie titled, ‘Jersey’ hit the screens on Friday. Starring Shahid Kapoor and Thakur, the story will be a treat to watch especially for cricket lovers. Though it isn’t one of those success stories of legendary sportspersons.

But, the personal struggles of a cricketer, who failed to reach the highest level despite attaining success during his early days touch the soul of the fans. Shahid Khan, once again, has done a brilliant job, as far as getting into the skin of the character was concerned.

Perhaps, there wouldn’t be a better actor who could hit those cover drives with such grace. For the unversed, the movie is a remake of the 2019 Telugu film of the same name, called Jersey.

The movie depicts the life of a talented Ranji player, named, Arjun Talwar (Shahid Kapoor). He received massive success in domestic cricket but couldn’t reach the highest level. As a result of that, he quits the game at 26. However, the passion, grit, and determination to prove a point remain intact deep within his soul.

Moreover, he wanted to salvage the hero that his son (Kitu) sees in him. His coach, Madhav (Pankaj Tripathi) had faith in his abilities even after years of leaving the game. And, as fate would have it, Arjun Talwar (Shahid Kapoor) made his comeback after a decade.

The moral and emotional dilemmas of Arjun keep the audience engaged and adds the much-needed ingredients for making a perfect dish. Mrunal Thakur, on the other hand, also portrays his character to utmost perfection. He seems to be taking her craft a notch higher with every movie.

However, what stood out was the heated banter between Shahid Kapoor and his father Pankaj in the movie. Having said that, the ones who actually follow cricket religiously are bound to not get over the fact that how could someone who was a shining star in domestic cricket not get the desired promotion and vanishes completely. Overall, the lovers of the game would still love to watch how the struggles of a talented unsuccessful cricketer has been portrayed.
