The much-awaited ODI World Cup is just two months away and the stadiums are getting ready for the mega event. The international cricket stadium in Dharamshala is all set to host five matches in the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament. It went under a massive renovation in the last 12 months and the outfield has been redone.

During India vs Australia home Test series a match was rescheduled from Mohali due to the upgrade work. Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Arun Dhumal, who formerly led the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, informed the media that the 'regular visit' was successful, with the world cricketing body awarding the venue a green light.

We have been working on the venue for the last year and it is now completely ready for World Cup matches: Arun Dhumal

Black soil has been added to the pitch in preparation for the World Cup. Due to the clouds, batters may experience some relief from the afternoon sun. However, the venue will require the think tank to be flexible with their strategies. For the pitches, black soil has been transported from Bhiwani, Haryana. The soil will be properly sifted before being placed onto the fields. The stadium's pitch area has nine fields that will be covered with a layer of black dirt. Aside from that, the same soil will be placed down at the stadium's 20 practice pitches.

The chairman stated, "Yes, a team of ICC and BCCI was at the venue this afternoon and inspected our facilities and took stock of our preparations during their routine visit. They were very pleased with the new outfield and the pitches and will soon be sharing their further observations in a detailed report. We have been working on the venue for the last year and it is now completely ready for World Cup matches."

He previously stated, "We have done a lot of work on the outfield. And if you ask the players who were here doing the IPL, they would tell you about the quality of the outfield, grass, and pitches we have here. It is absolutely world-class and we have spent a lot of time and effort to ensure it remains top standard even during extreme weather conditions."
