The young Indian batter Prithvi Shaw has been overlooked by the Indian Team selectors for a while now. Apart from that, he has now attracted the headlines on social media after his recent statement. In this statement, Shaw talked about his batting style and approach in all the formats of the game.

The young batter also said he’s not going to change his style and will not try to play like the veteran Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara. “Whatever has brought me here, I'll stick to that method. I can't bat like Pujara sir, he can’t bat like me. I don't like to change my aggressive batting, be it T20 or any format,” said Shaw after West Zone played in the semi-final of the Duleep Trophy 2023.

This statement from Shaw attracted some hilarious reactions from Indian cricket fans on Twitter. Some of the fans trolled Shaw and said that he should focus on scoring runs, no matter whatever style he adopts to play.

Here’s how fans reacted:

Shaw also talked about the format change and batting in different formats like T20 or red-ball cricket. He also stressed the fact that the change of format has also an impact on the mindset of an individual.

"It's not that you can always be perfect but I try to work harder after these kinds of things happen (not getting runs). T20 is a bit more slashing but has a similar mindset. Not the similar way as in T20 with me when I am playing red-ball cricket as well. What I should try is to play with bowlers, distract them, and force them to give the ball that you want and not the ball that they want to bowl," stated Shaw.

"Everything has been going nice in red ball cricket from last year itself after I scored 370 (379 vs Assam). With the white ball, especially the IPL, I feel everything is going the opposite. You just have 20 overs to think about batting. I speak to Sourav (Ganguly) sir, Ricky Ponting sir, and Praveen (Amre) sir (in Delhi Capitals),” he added.
