After a dismal season the previous year, Ravindra Jadeja has won the most Player of the Match honours for CSK in the IPL 2023 and has been essential in leading them to their 10th IPL final. On social media, though, the narrative is rather different. Jadeja has been liking and tweeting information that has sparked rumours of a potential rupture between him and the yellow brigade.
In all fairness to the superstar all-rounder, he hasn't given any names or specifics, but his updates haven't been straightforward. And after CSK defeated Gujarat Titans by 15 runs in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2023 to advance to the championship, Jadeja fired back at those who questioned his value as a CSK player.
Due to his all-around efforts, Jadeja was named the "match's most valuable asset." He batted for 22 off of 16 balls before taking the scalps of Dasun Shanaka as well as David Miller to finish with outstanding stats of 2 for 18 in his 4 overs. He uploaded a photo of himself clutching the trophy after the game and included a statement. He said, “Upstox knows but..some fans don’t."
This was by no means the first time that Jadeja had poked fun at the crowd during IPL 2023. Jadeja made it quite plain during CSK's home game against DC earlier this month that he isn't particularly fond of the supporters screaming "Dhoni's" name whenever he is batting in the centre of the field.
After being seen having an intense conversation with Dhoni shortly before CSK's final group-stage match against DC, the great all-rounder sent out a mysterious tweet, which his wife tweeted.
The split rumours go back to the IPL season before last, when Jadeja was requested to relinquish his position as CSK's skipper and hand it back to Dhoni after a terrible opening half of the competition. After losing his position as captain, Jadeja had an injury and played a limited amount of games. Although there were rumours that Jadeja might leave the four-time winners, nothing of the kind happened as he proceeded to play for CSK this campaign and did so quite successfully.
