Ravindra Jadeja 'upset and very hurt' with Chennai: Reports

The Indian T20 League 2022 hasn't really been kind to Ravindra Jadeja. Nothing has gone right for him in the 15th edition of the league. Prior to the commencement of this season, he was handed the captaincy responsibilities of Chennai, but failed to live up to the expectations.

Under his leadership, the yellow army lost six out of their eight games. Besides, his own form was below-par as well. Thus, Jadeja handed over Chennai's captaincy back to MS Dhoni. To make matters worse, the all-rounder suffered an injury during Chennai's game against Bangalore as well. Thus, he was later ruled out of the tournament.

While there were a lot of rumours which suggested that there was a rift between Jadeja and the Chennai-based franchise, the franchise CEO Kasi Vishwanath ridiculed them. He had stated that all is well, and the southpaw is very much a part of their future plans. However, recent reports claim that Jadeja is "upset" with the four-time champions.

“Yes he (Ravindra Jadeja) is upset & very hurt. The captaincy issue could have been handled better. Everything was too sudden, too abrupt. Any human being would get hurt by the way things shaped up," said a source close to Ravindra Jadeja, as quoted by InsideSport. When asked about the 33-year-old's injury, the source didn't make a direct comment about the same.

“I don’t want to say much on this. Yes he had a injury but how serious I am not aware”, added the source. Thus, the fans would be keen to see what happens in the next season. They would be hoping that Jadeja continues to play for Chennai. As for this season, the Saurashtra all-rounder failed to make an impact with the bat, as well as the ball. In 10 games of the 2022 edition, Jadeja was only able to score 116 runs at an average of 19.33, and only picked five wickets.

As for the defending champions, they have had a forgettable season as well. Chennai have only won four out of their 13 games, and are already out of the race to the playoffs. Besides, they are currently placed ninth on the points table. Their last game of this edition shall see them take on Rajasthan at the Brabourne Stadium on May 20.
