Amid India’s heartbreaking loss to South Africa in the 1st Test match at Centurion, fans and cricket pundits recalled star India batter Ajinkya Rahane. The middle-order batter has been phenomenal throughout his career, especially in SENA countries. However, a day after India’s loss, Ajinkya Rahane shared some visuals of his practice session, giving a hint to his comeback.
In a video, Rahane shared visuals of his practice session at the Mumbai Cricket Association ground. Sharing the video on social media platforms, X Rahane captioned, “No rest days.” It’s worth noting that Rahane last represented India in the India vs. West Indies Test series. However, he failed to put up a show as he scored just 11 runs in two innings.

Rahane is currently preparing for the Ranji Trophy 2024, in which he will represent Mumbai in the domestic tournament. Mumbai will start their campaign with a high-voltage game against Bihar at the Mouin-ul-Haq stadium in Patna. Playing against a weak team like Bihar will help Ajinkya Rahane, Prithvi Shaw, and Sarfaraz Khan make a comeback for the national team.
‘If he would have been'—Sunil Gavaskar namedrops Ajinkya Rahane
Amid India’s poor performance with bat in the first innings of the 1st Test, former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar praised Ajinkya Rahane. He spoke about India’s 2017-18 tour of South Africa, where Rahane has been phenomenal with a gritty knock of 48 runs at Johannesburg.
“The pitch was not easy in the Johannesburg Test five years ago, and I was there. However, Ajinkya Rahane rose to the occasion and showed what India missed in the ongoing game against South Africa,” Gavaskar said.
“India didn’t lose the previous Test matches in South Africa by big margins. Someone like Rahane would have been handy on this tour as well. He has been in a class outside India. If he was there on the first day, the story would have been different for India,” he added.
Here is how fans react to Ajinkya Rahane’s post:
India have to follow a strategy to give Rahane chance in Sena condition and to give shreyas Iyer chance in Asian conditions
