The Royal Challengers Bangalore have had a topsy turvy season so far in IPL 2023. The Bold Army have won four games and lost four games in the tournament so far. The batting has come good for them, but they have been plagued with problems in the middle order. Dinesh Karthik has not fired as a finisher and the bowling has been very inconsistent, which has not helped their cause in any way.

Ahead of their clash against Lucknow Super Giants, RCB were going through their batting drills in the nets. But Virat Kohli was up to his mischievous self as he tried to imitate Faf du Plessis batting stance. The duo was seen doing it together. The video of the same has created a storm on social media. Going by the footage seen in the video, it looks like Kohli did a pretty good imitation of du Plessis' batting stance.

Here is the video:

I modelled my batting stance around Herschelle Gibbs - Faf du Plessis

For those who have observed du Plessis batting stance in the game of cricket, many of them will find it slightly awkward. The former South Africa skipper mentioned in an interview with Star Sports that his back lift was too high. But he said that he does a second tap which ensures that the bat comes straight down in line of the ball.

"I remember back in the day I tried to bat a little like Herschelle Gibbs. He had a lot of those taps and I batted like that to a degree. Then, I remember going to England and I found out that I was moving around too much with my head so I just stood still and did one tap and that's where my technique is now. It's obviously quite high (his back lift) but it's all about rhythm for me, the feeling of the bat going up and tapping it. But that second tap, it comes back to a decent position so the bat can come through straight,"

RCB have made it to three IPL finals in 2009, 2011 and 2016. But the Bold Army have not been able to bring home the IPL trophy. RCB, however, have made it to the playoffs in the last three IPL seasons from 2020 to 2022. They also have the most number of wins in IPL history after Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.
