One of the most successful captains in the history of cricket, MS Dhoni has a kind of aura that can light up any occasion with his presence. The man who led India to three major international trophies was recently spotted at a Ganesha Chaturthi celebration in Mumbai, where he brought positive vibes to the religious ceremony. A video of the cricketing legend offering heartfelt prayers and showering petals on a beautiful idol of Lord Ganesha has gone viral on social media and fans expressed their joy.

It has been more than three years since Dhoni retired from international cricket. However, the 42-year-old still continues to entertain cricket fans by playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). His journey started as a 'ticket collector' and then turned into a 'trophy collector' and along with it he collected millions of hearts with his on-field brilliance.

The wicket-keeper batter's craze around the world is huge and has not abated even after his international retirement. In the video, which shows Dhoni's religious side, a group of Ganesha devotees are seen surrounding the CSK captain, reportedly at Mumbai's Taj Lands End hotel.

Was IPL 2023 MS Dhoni's last season as a player?

The Ranchi-born cricketer was last seen on the cricket field in the IPL 2023 final, where he led the Chennai-based franchise to their fifth title. There were rumours that Dhoni would not be seen in the next season. However, the right-hander hinted after the final that he would be back for the 2024 season for his adoring fans. Notably, he recently underwent surgery on his injured knee and is currently rehabilitating.

“If you circumstantially see, it’s the best time to announce the retirement. The easy thing for me to say is thank you and retire. But the hard thing to do is to work hard for nine months and try to play one more IPL season. The body has to hold up. But the amount of love I have received from CSK fans, it would be a gift for them to play one more season. The way they’ve shown their love and emotion, it’s something I need to do for them,” Dhoni said after the 2023 IPL final.
