Royal Challengers Bangalore Women and UP Warriorz Women locked horns in the 2nd match of the ongoing Women’s Premier League 2024. Both teams played this match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday. UP Warriorz skipper Alyssa Healy won the toss and asked the hosts RCB-W to bat first.

 Batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore Women posted 157 runs for the loss of 6 wickets courtesy of the half-century knocks played by wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh and Sabhineni Meghana. Ghosh and Meghana scored 62 and 53 runs for their side.

Rajeshwari Gaikwad scalped 2 wickets for RCB-W, alongside one wicket each bagged by Grace Harris, Tahlia McGrath, Sophie Ecclestone, and Deepti Sharma.

While chasing the target, Grace Harris and Shweta Sehrawat played the crucial knocks of 38 and 31 runs, respectively. Besides these two, number three batter Tahlia McGrath scored 22 runs off 18 balls, with 2 fours and a six.

But these knocks went in vain as UP Warriorz Women couldn’t cross the line and lost the match by 2 runs as they were restricted to the score of 155 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

However, Sobhana Asha bowled brilliantly for Royal Challengers Bangalore Women as she claimed a sensational five-wicket haul, picking 5 wickets just at the cost of 22 runs in her quota of 4 overs. Besides her, Sophie Molineux and Georgia Wareham also bagged one wicket each.

The bowling brilliance helped Royal Challengers Bangalore to clinch this nail-biting thriller by a narrow margin of 2 runs to start their WPL 2024 campaign with a win.
