The Mumbai Indians locked horns against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium. The coin fell in favour of MI and they chose to bowl. RCB did not get off to a good start as Virat Kohli was dismissed after scoring just 1 off 4 balls to Jason Beherendorff. The move to send Anuj Rawat at number three did not work at all as he went for just 6 off 4 balls with one four. RCB were tottering with the fall of two quick wickets.

Faf Plessis made a wonderful 65 off 41 balls with five fours and three sixes. The RCB skipper was in his element and flayed the MI bowlers all over. Glenn Maxwell built a wonderful partnership with the captain as he made a  superb 68 off 33 balls with eight fours and four sixes. He was caught by Nehal Wadhera off Behrendorff. Mahipal Lomror did not have the best of nights as he was dismissed early.

Nehal Wadhera made an unbeaten 52 off 34 balls to see the Mumbai Indians home in IPL 2023

He was bowled by Kumar Karthikeya for just 1 off 3 balls. Dinesh Karthik  found some rythym as he hit 30 off 18 balls with four fours and one six. RCB with these contributions finished on 199-6 in their 20 overs. On a batting beauty at the Wankhede, RCB would have felt they were some runs short.

The onslaught of runs continued in the second innings. Although Rohit Sharma fell quickly to Wanindu Hasaranga. Ishan Kishan the pocket dynamite came in and hit the RCB bowlers to all parts. He made a stunning 42 off 21 balls with four fours and four sixes to set the tone. MI had their noses in front even though RCB had struck with two blows.

After Kishan went, it was the Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera show. They did not give RCB a chance to comback into the game.  Suryakumar made an astonishing 83 off 34 balls with seven fours and six sixes. He was out to Vijaykumar Vyshak. Wadhera made an unbeaten 53 off 34 balls with four fours and three sixes. He saw MI home.  The two batters were in perfect sync with each other. MI have now jumped to the third position on the points table.

MI owned the Wankhede and totally mesmerised the crowd. RCB have been brought down to earth with this loss.  Things are not looking good for the Bold Army, MI in the end, absolutely coasted to a six wicket victory.
