Star Indian pace-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur is currently in action for Mumbai in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024. He impressed everyone with his brilliant well-fought century in the ongoing second semi-final of the tournament between Mumbai and Tamil Nadu. He smashed this century when Mumbai was in extreme trouble in the first innings after losing 7 wickets just at the score of 106 runs.

Shardul scored 109 runs off just 105 balls, with 13 fours and 4 sixes; he also stitched an all-important and crucial partnership of 105 runs for the 8th wicket with Hardik Tamore. It is also the first-ever First-Class century for Shardul Thakur. He also stitched a 79-run partnership for the ninth wicket with the number 10 batter Tanush Kotian.

Shardul Thakur’s century rescues Mumbai from a miserable situation

Thakur’s century stabilized Mumbai as they rescued from a miserable to a comfortable position in the match owing to Shardul Thakur’s century. At the time of filling this cop, Tanush Kotian was unbeaten there in the middle at the individual score of 67 runs off 93 balls, with 9 fours, alongside number 11 batter Tushar Deshpande. Besides Tanush Kotian and Shardul Thakur, number three batter Musheer Khan also scored 55 runs with 6 fours.

Speaking of Tamil Nadu’s bowling, their skipper R Sai Kishore has bowled brilliantly and scalped 6 wickets, with 1 and 2 wickets picked by Sandeep Warrier and Kuldeep Sen, respectively.

Earlier in the first innings, the visitors Tamil Nadu were bundled out just at the score of 146 runs in the first innings. Vijay Shankar and Washington Sundar scored 44 and 43 runs, respectively to help their side register a triple-digit total.

Shardul Thakur, Musheer Khan, and Tanush Kotian scalped two wickets each, alongside two wickets picked by Tushar Deshpande. Besides these, Mohit Avasthi also bagged one wicket for his side.
