The third Test of the series between Australia and Pakistan is set to happen at SCG. It is special for many reasons. With its historic relevance, the New Year Test of every year at Sydney is organized as a Pink Test. This time around, there is another thing to look forward to. Australia will be sending goodbye messages to one of their greatest Test cricketers in recent times.

It will be the last match of David Warner in whites for Australia. Hence, the fans are looking forward to the match in a big way. However, it is important to look at the playing conditions and the weather for the match to see if Warner might get a good farewell, or even have a chance of having a proper farewell. The Australian opener and the fans would love to have good weather for the match.

Sydney has historically been known for rain-interrupted games. 7 out of the last 8 games at the venue are interrupted by the rain in the Pink test, which is not good news. 2024 would not be any different, as reports claim a 70 percent of chance of rain for the second day, although the weather is promising for the first day.

Will rain destroy David Warner's farewell?

If what reports suggest is to be believed, then there might be an interruption in the game due to bad weather. Although not the whole game would be impacted, a genuine win or loss would not be possible, as per the norm at the venue in the last few years. The Border Gavaskar Trophy 2019 match between India and Australia was washed out for about 2 days without any play possible.

Australia has not won a match in Sydney for a long time. A lot has to do with its playing conditions. The pitch has been flat more often than not. The weather is not so supportive either. In such cases, expecting a win or a loss would be difficult. Australia would be hoping to get a full match.
