Australian pace trio is set to script history soon. The likes of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood are about to create a new record in the Australia cricket against Pakistan in the first test at Optus stadium in Perth. The trio is likely to set a new record for scoring the most wins by Australian attack while playing together in Test matches.
If Australia win the first Test, the current trio would equal it with the most wins for Australia as a bowling attack. The legendary pace trio of Glenn Mcgrath, Jason Gillespie, and Brett Lee currently holds the record for the most number of wins for Australia in Tests while playing together. In 22 Tests together, the trio had 15 wins to their name.
On the other hand, the trio of Cummins, Starc, and Hazlewood have 14 wins to their name in 25 matches together. The three have a lot of wickets to their name. In 25 matches together, the trio has 306 wickets at a bowling average of 26.75 and a bowling strike rate of 52.68. Most of the wins of the trio has come in Australia in front of their home crowd. Against Pakistan, the trio would be looking forward to equal the record.
'We're going to be mates for life' - Pat Cummins
The Australian captain was in the pre-match conference talking about the same. "Mitch (Mitchell Starc) and Josh Hazlewood (and me) in particular, we're going to be mates for life. There will be plenty of times when we're reminiscing, and probably over the years we'll get better and better in our own mind, than what we actually were," said Cummins.
Cummins spoke about bowling alongside the other two. "These are the wickets that we've grown up on, that we've played for a decade on. We know them really well. We know what works and it's always nice when it flings out of your hand and you see the pace and bounce," added Pat Cummins, as he spoke about bowling in the Test matches against Pakistan.
