The veteran Indian Test specialist batter Cheteshwar Pujara once again attracted the eyeballs for his amazing batting brilliance in red-ball cricket. He smashed a brilliant double century for his home domestic team Saurashtra against Jharkhand in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024. Notably, Saurashtra and Jharkhand are taking on each other in their campaign opener in the ongoing edition of India’s biggest domestic tournament.

Coming back to Cheteshwar Pujara, he was in the headlines a few weeks ago after getting ignored by India’s squad for the recently concluded two-match Test series against South Africa. Alongside Pujara, another veteran batter Ajinkya Rahane was also sidelined from the Test squad for the series against Proteas.

Once again, Pujara is knocking on the doors of India’s national team with his stunning unbeaten double century, scoring 243 runs off 356 balls, and hitting 30 fours. He also stitched an unbeaten partnership of 256 runs with the number 6 batter Prerak Mankad, who also scored 104 runs off 176 balls, hitting 12 fours.

Ashish Kumar, Vikash Singh, Rahul Shukla, and Anukul Roy scalped one wicket each for Jharkhand in the first innings.

At the time of filling this copy, Jharkhand had scored 81 runs for the loss of one wicket in 20 wickets and still trailed by 355 runs in the second innings at the time of Tea Break on the third day of the game.
