India faced an unbelievable and drastic collapse in the first innings in reply to South Africa’s total of 55 runs during the ongoing second Test of the two-match series. While batting in the first innings, India looked comfortable at the score of 153 runs for losing 4 wickets in their first innings.

But what happened with the visitors within the next 11 balls from the first ball of the 34th over to the 5th ball of the 35th over, was something that they would never like to look back and remember. India lost a record number of 6 wickets without scoring any runs and from 153 runs for the loss of 4 wickets, they got bundled out and lost all the 10 wickets only on the score of 153 runs.

It all became possible due to the bowling heroics of two pace bowling giants Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada. The duo scalped 6 wickets just within 2 overs, claiming 3 wickets each in their overs.

One of the rarest ‘first days’ in Test Cricket history

Earlier in the beginning of the day, the hosts’ skipper Dean Elgar won the toss and decided to bat first; batting first, the Proteas couldn’t survive against the fiery pace attack of India, including the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Burmah, and Mukesh Kumar. Mohammed Siraj completely dismantled the South African batting attack by scalping 6 wickets at the cost of just 15 runs in 9 overs.

Besides Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar also picked two wickets each to bundle out South Africa only on the minimal score of 55 runs, which is also the lowest team total by any opponent against India in the Tests.

At the time of filling this copy, South Africa had started their batting in the second innings; they scored 6 runs without any loss, having their opening pair of skipper Dean Elgar and veteran batter Aiden Markram there in the middle on the individual scores of 1 and 5 runs, respectively. So, the fans have witnessed the fall of 20 wickets on the first day of the match just at the score of 204 runs so far on the first day.
