South Africa and India are currently in action in the ongoing second and last Test of the two-match series at the Newlands in Cape Town. The Indian pace attack destroyed the Proteas' batting lineup by bundling them just at the score of 55 runs in 23.2 overs in the first innings.

The hosts’ batters looked completely clueless against the Indian pace trio of Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mukesh Kumar. All the 10 wickets of South Africa in the first innings were scalped by the Indian pacers. Star pace spearhead Mohammed Siraj ripped off the top order of the Proteas by scalping 6 wickets at the cost of just 15 runs in 9 overs, including 3 maiden overs.

Besides Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar also claimed two wickets each to help India bundle out Dean Elgar’s men at the minimal score of just 55 runs in the first innings.

Notably, the Proteas skipper Dean Elgar won the toss in the morning and decided to bat first but his move backfired completely as none of the South African batters except David Bedingham and Kyle Verreynne managed to cross the individual mark of a double-digit score.

It was also the third five-wicket haul for the star Indian pace Spearhead Mohammed Siraj in his Test career; apart from that, it is his best bowling performance in the Test career so far. South Africa have also broken their record of the lowest total against India in a Test innings. The last time it happened was on November 25 2015 when South Africa bundled out at the score of 79 runs against India in the Nagpur Test.

Speaking of the ongoing two-match Test series between South Africa and India, the hosts are leading the series by an unassailable margin of 1-0 with a win in the first by an innings and 32 runs.
