‘Kaun hai ye log kaha se atte hai ye log…’ – Fans react as Alyssa Healy tackles pitch invader during Up Warriorz vs Mumbai Indians match in WPL 2024

As both teams were having star players a pitch invader also came in the field in the first innings of the match. The incident happened in the last ball of Mumbai Indians batting. Alyssa Healy managed to stop the fan and security took him away.

UP Warriorz Women has finally won the first match in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024. This win came on 28th February in M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, against Mumbai Indians Women by seven wickets. Kiran Navgire was the star performer in the match as she scored a half-century from just 25 balls. Later, she was dismissed on 57 runs. She was awarded with Player of the Match award for her innings.

As both teams were having a go at each other, a pitch invader also came into the field in the first innings of the match. The incident happened on the last ball of Mumbai Indians batting. As Sanjeevan Sajan was dismissed by Anjali Saravni a fan came onto the pitch breaching the tight security. However, Alyssa Healy managed to stop the fan and security took him away.

While Mumbai Indians Women were missing the service of Harmanpreet Kaur and Shahnim Ismail as they both were ruled out due to niggle. Issy Wong and Humaira Kazi were their replacements while Nat Sciver-Brunt was the captain. UP Warriorz also made one change as Anjali Sarvani was replaced by Gouher Sultana.

Mumbai Indians Women got a good start to their innings as Hayley Matthews and Yastika Bhatia shared 50 50-run stand for the first wicket. Mumbai Indians women posted a total of 161 runs. While chasing the score of 161 runs UP Warriorz had a good start as openers Kiran Navgire and Alyssa Healy scored 94 runs for the first wicket stand. After their dismissals, Grace Harris and Deepti Sharma took responsibility and took the team to the finish mark in just 16.3 overs. They both remained unbeaten and made a partnership of 65 runs. 

UP Warriorz Women’s will now face Gujarat Giants Women’s in their next WPL match on 1st March. While Mumbai Indians Women’s will face Royal Challengers Bangalore Women’s on 2nd March
