The second T20I of the three-match series between India and Afghanistan is underway at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. The hosts’ skipper Rohit Sharma has decided to bowl first after winning the toss. Indian team management has made two changes in the playing XI as they dropped Shubman Gill and Tilak Varma to replace them with Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Notably, Shubman Gill was in the headlines after his on-field misunderstanding with his opening partner and skipper Rohit Sharma; it eventually resulted in the latter’s run out just on a two-ball duck. The fans are also connecting the move of the Indian skipper and management to drop Gill with the last match’s run out.

Fans also came up with a lot of different reactions over X (formerly Twitter) after the news of Gill getting dropped broke out after skipper Sharma revealed the playing XI at the time of the toss.

Speaking of the action of the match, Afghanistan had started batting in the first innings and they had scored 2 runs for no loss at the time of filling this copy as Arshdeep Singh had bowled two consecutive wide balls in the first over of the game.

Virat Kohli makes his T20I return after 14 months

Apart from that, the former Indian skipper and the modern-day batting great, Virat Kohli is appearing in the T20Is for India after a long hiatus of 14 months. Before today’s ongoing game against Afghanistan, he made his last T20I appearance against England in the first semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 in Adelaide.

Here’s a look at the playing XI of India in the 2nd T20I against Afghanistan:
