The young Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan is now once again in the headlines of the Indian cricketing circuit, among the cricket fans and game experts. It all happened after he failed to make it to India’s squad for the first two Tests of the upcoming five-match series against England, starting on Wednesday, January 24 2024.

The inclusion of uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel instead of Ishan Kishan also left a lot of fans surprised; they didn’t take long to come up with a lot of reactions while questioning the Indian Cricket Board for ignoring Ishan Kishan from India’s Test squad.

Apart from that, the veteran Test specialist batters Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane missed a spot in the Test squad for the second consecutive time; last time, it was in the recently concluded two-match Test series against South Africa.

Coming back to Ishan Kishan, last time he was in action for India in the third T20I of the five-match T20I series against Australia. Later, the 25-year-old was at the centre of a lot of discussions among the cricket experts and fans of the game after he withdrew his name from India’s squad from the two-match Test series against South Africa.

Ishan took his name back from the squad citing the mental fatigue and asked for a break from the management and the board. He was replaced by the Bengal wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat as the second wicketkeeping option alongside the star wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul.

Coming back to India’s squad, the team management appointed the star pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah as the vice-captain of the team for this home Test series against England. Apart from that, they have included four specialist pacers including Bumrah, alongside Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, and Jasprit Bumrah. The batting options for the team will be the skipper Rohit Sharma and former skipper Virat Kohli, alongside Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul.
