India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in the eagerly anticipated ODI World Cup 2023 match on Saturday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Due to India's comprehensive dominance on all fronts, what was expected to be a hotly contested war became a one-sided encounter.

With a stunning 86 runs from 63 balls, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma took the initiative and guided his side to a modest total of 192 with an incredible 19.3 overs remaining. With the exception of Shardul Thakur, every bowler chose two, and Jasprit Bumrah's excellent 2/19 stats earned him the title of player of the game. With the winning runs and a magnificent half-century to go along with them, Shreyas Iyer led India to its third straight triumph.

Babar Azam along with the team management for Pakistan will have to start over after suffering their second lopsided loss to India in less than a month.

One of the events that transpired after Pakistan's defeat has generated considerable debate on social media. It featured Pakistani skipper Babar and Virat Kohli, who was seen giving Babar his jersey. Many Pakistani supporters think that considering the lopsided loss, it would have been wiser to carry out such an act in the locker room.

Today was not the day to do this: Wasim Akram

In fact, a Pakistani fan told a panel of experts, including Wasim Akram, exactly this during a televised programme on the Pakistani station A Sports. The fan argued that the gesture ought to have been carried out privately, and Akram agreed. He also made an intriguing comment about Babar.

Wasim Akrim agreed with the fan as he said, “That’s what I exactly said when I saw the picture [getting the shirts publicly, not privately].”

The former Pakistani fast bowler said, “Today was not the day to do this. If you want to do it – "Agar chacha ke puttar ne kaha hai ki t-shirt chahiye Kohli ki, toh match ke baad dressing room me maango. (If your uncle’s son has asked you to get Kohli’s shirt – then do it after the game in the dressing room).”
