The mini-auction for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2024 is set to be held on Tuesday, December 19. Meanwhile, a total of 1,166 players have registered for the IPL auction, 830 Indian cricketers and 336 overseas cricketers. The categories of the players are divided into 212 capped players, alongside 909 uncapped and 45 associate cricketers.
Amidst all this, there have been a few sensational performers who stunned everyone with their outstanding performances in the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023. Young New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra is one of those stars who could bag an expensive bid during the IPL 2024 auction.
With said that, here we’ll have a look at the 5 teams that might target Rachin Ravindra during the mini-auction for the next edition of the tournament.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
One of the most celebrated franchises of IPL, Royal Challengers Bangalore have some performing overseas stars, including the star Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and the Kiwi star Michael Bracewell. But still, RCB might feel a need for an all-round star who possesses the knack of changing the game with his abilities both with bat and ball.
So, Rachin Ravindra could be a great fit for RCB in their squad, providing an equilibrium both in the top-order of the batting and bowling some crucial overs for the side.
Delhi Capitals
Currently, the capital city franchise has a brilliant all-rounder in Axar Patel with them. But still, they need someone who can accompany Axar in providing quality spin bowling, alongside some crucial knocks with the bat. For this, no one seems as perfect as the young Wellington prodigy Rachin Ravindra.
Apart from his all-round abilities with the bat and ball, Rachin is also capable of providing an opening option for Delhi Capitals, alongside the veteran Southpaw David Warner.
Mumbai Indians
The five-time IPL champions are known for nurturing potential talents and emerging cricketers into the performing and brilliant stars of the game. Star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya is one of those examples from the Mumbai Indians’ camp. On the other hand, MI might look ahead to invest in some young cricketing stars who have an amazing set of skills.
Owing to his performances for New Zealand in the ODI World Cup 2023, Rachin Ravindra could be the end of MI’s search for a reliable spin-bowling all-rounder. The most successful side of the tournament could opt for the Kiwi star during the mini-auction.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Currently, IPL 2016 champions, Sunrisers Hyderabad have two brilliant all-rounders, Washington Sundar and Abhishek Sharma in their squad. Both the players can provide a crucial addition with bat and ball owing to their all-round abilities. But, SRH will look ahead to lessen the workload of Sundar and Sharma by adding another spin-bowling all-rounder in the squad.
The 23-year-old Kiwi sensation, Rachin Ravindra might be a good option for the orange outfits to go ahead with. His bowling skills could surely help them whenever they’ll be playing at their home ground in Hyderabad.
Rajasthan Royals
Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals are also in search of a spin-bowling all-rounder. However, they have Riyan Parag in the squad but he isn’t as impressive as the team and they would’ve expected from him. So, to add some quality spin-bowling, alongside amazing stroke-making skills, the Royals might go ahead to put their money on the star New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra.
Rachin Ravindra will also be a good option for Rajasthan to strengthen their top-order in the batting considering his recent performances of him in the ODI World Cup 2023.
