2022 has been a year for the shortest format of the game. All teams focused on T20Is as the 20-20 World Cup was there. Still, the team India played eight ODI series consisting of 24 matches across home and away conditions this year. Among them, the Men in Blue lost three series while they won another five.

The next 50-over World Cup is going to happen in 2023 in India. Therefore, the team management decided to try some new players into playing XI. However, some bowlers came up with some top-class performances with the ball that helped team India to many victories.     

Here are the top five ODI Bowling Spells from team India in 2022:

Prasidh Krishna 4/12 vs West Indies, 2nd ODI, 9 Feb

It was the second ODI of that series that took place in Ahmedabad on 9 February 2022. Team India were looking to seal the series by winning this match. Speaking of the match, West Indies won the toss and asked the Men in Blue to bat first. While batting first, they scored 237 runs for nine wickets in 50 overs. 

In reply, the Caribbeans got bundled out for just 193 runs in 46 overs. Prasidh Krishna was the star of the show as he took four wickets for 12 runs in nine overs. He also won the player of the match award. However, India won the next match also and won that ODI series 3-0.   

Jasprit Bumrah 6/19 vs England, 1st ODI, 12 July

It was the first ODI of that series that took place at the Oval on 12 July. Speaking of the match, India won the toss and opted to bowl first. However, England's batters were absolutely clueless as they got bundled out for 110 runs in 25.2 overs. Jasprit Bumrah was the star of the show as he took six wickets for 19 runs in 7.2 overs.

In reply, India chased down the target with ease in just 18.4 overs. Jasprit won the player of the match award for such an excellent spell. He bowled with an economy of 2.59 along with three maiden overs. In the first over only, he bowled a two-wicket maiden over when Bumrah took the wickets of Jason Roy and Joe Root respectively.      

Hardik Pandya 4/24 vs England, 3rd ODI, 17 July

It was the third ODI of that series that took place in Manchester on 17 July 2022. It was a series decider after both teams managed to win each of the first two games. Speaking of the match, India won the toss and opted to bowl first. While batting first, England got bundled out for 259 runs in 45.5 overs. 

However, Hardik Pandya took four wickets for 24 runs in seven overs. In reply, Rishabh Pant scored 125* runs and ensured team India’s victory. However, Pandya also scored 71 runs off 55 balls during that chase. He also stitched a partnership of 133 runs. In that series, Hardik Pandya also won the player of the series award for his all-around performance.     

Yuzvendra Chahal 4/17 vs West Indies, 3rd ODI, 27 July

It was the third ODI of that series that took place in Port of Spain on 27 July 2022. India already sealed that series by winning the first two matches. So, they were looking for a clean sweep. Speaking of the match, the Men in Blue won the toss and opted to bat first. They scored 225 runs for three wickets in 36 overs.

In reply, the Caribbeans got bundled out for just 137 runs in 26 overs. Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal was the star of the show as he took four wickets for 17 runs in four overs. With that win, they completed the clean sweep. In that series, Chahal took seven wickets in three matches at an economy of 6.26.

Kuldeep Yadav 4/18 vs South Africa, 3rd ODI, 11 Oct

It was the third ODI of that series that took place in Delhi on 11 October 2022. It was a series decider after both teams managed to win each of the first two games. Speaking of the match, India won the toss and opted to bowl first. While batting first, the Proteas got bundled out for just 99 runs in 27.3 overs. 

However, Kuldeep Yadav was the star of the show as he picked up four wickets for 18 runs in 4.1 overs. In reply, the Men in Blue chased down the target with ease in just 19.1 overs. They won the match with seven wickets in the bag and won the series by 2-1. Kuldeep won the player of the match award for such a spell.
