Joe Root becomes the fourth-highest run-scorer in Test

England captain Joe Root has achieved a new feat and became the fourth-highest run-scorer for England in the game's most extended format. The 30-year-old registered this record in the ongoing second Test against Sri Lanka at Galle International Stadium. The batsman was also featuring in his 99th Test for England. Joe Root has scored 8,238 Test runs in 180 innings and is now behind Alec Stewart, Graham Gooch, and former captain Alastair Cook in Tests.
